MEDIUM: ARCHITECT'S WATER COLORS ON ARTBOARD
Few classic automobiles are as quickly recognized or as iconic as the Mercedes-Benz Gullwing Coupe. The "Gullwaing" was a street version of the succesful SLR racer.
Built from 1955 to 1957, the "SL" stood for "Sport Leicht", or Sport Light. The 300 indicated the 3.0 litre engine which was canted at 45 degree angle to fit under the low hood. The first production car with mechanical fuel injection, the "Gullwing" was aerodynamic and fast. The upward swinging "Gullwing" doors remain the signature feature of the 300SL
This 3 view Illustrated Portrait features 3/4 passenger front with both "Gullwing" doors in the open, upward position. Also 3/4 rear and driver profile views with doors closed.
