Reunited after 40 years
After 40 years Classic Automotive Portraits Owner-Artist Robert Diepenbrock was reunited with Leo Gephart and his illustrated portrait of a two-toned red 1931 Duesenberg Dual Cowl Phaeton. Leo, known throughout the car collector world as "Mr. Duesenberg," commissioned the portrait in 1974 when he was a principal with the Kruse Auction Company. Bob contacted Leo during his research on the history of his newly purchased 1936 Auburn 852 Boattail Speedster, which Leo had previously owned. Leo had some documents on the Speedster and graciously offered to meet with Bob and give them to him. "When I saw my portrait hanging behind the desk in Leo's study I was amazed, it was like time stood still!"
