February 24, 2017
This five view Portrait captures various views of the 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, one of most iconic automobiles ever created. In addition to the Portrait, the matte features the rivet design which make the Atlantic so unique. Rivets were required to assemble the body panels which were made of light weight Duralinium, an early form of magnesium that could not be welded.
"I first saw this stunning Bugatti at the 2007 Curves of Steel exhibit at the Phoenix Art Museum," I saw it again when we toured the Mullin Museum, remembered artist Robert Diepenbrock, "It was wonderful to see this iconic piece of rolling sculpture at the Arizona Concours, outdoors and running."
The Atlantic won Best of Show at the 2017 Arizona Concours d'Elegance out of an outstanding field of exotic and classic cars displayed on the green at the Arizona Biltmore., To view this Bugatti and numerous other outstanding examples of French automotive art visit the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, California.
